More Social More Media

The most beautiful RC2014 pictures are now on the official RC2014Z80 Instagram account.  So if you like a mix of art with your retro computer photos, get over to Instagram and follow now.

Or follow the #RC2014 hashtag for general RC2014 goodness (May contain random non-retro computer photos)

Colourful Laser Cut Enclosures

The plywood laser cut enclosure for the Backplane 8 has been very poplar... I mean popular ;-) It has now been joined by a range of coloured Perspex enclosures, including a one reminiscent of the rainbow flash on the ZX Spectrum.  So now your RC2014 can stand out or blend in however you want.

Backplane Pro and Backplane 5 enclosures will be available next month

OSHCamp2018

The annual Open Source Hardware Camp is taking place in Lincoln, UK this weekend.  In addition to all the awesome talks and workshops, Spencer will be giving a talk and running a Build A RC2014 workshop.  If you're quick, there's still a few tickets left.  The talks will be online afterwards, so look out for a link in the next newsletter

TMS9918 Graphics on RC2014

Whilst the standard ASCII output of the RC2014 is fine for most people, some users expect more from their retro hardware.  J.B. Langston is one of those users, so he built a graphics card based around the TMS9918, as found in the MSX or Sega consoles.  In conjunction with his z80ctrl board, the graphic abilities of the RC2014 really have to be seen to be believed! Just look at this demoscene code running;

One of the June highlights was Retro Computer Evening at Newbury Hackspace.  It was a fascinating evening with lots of interesting old kit there, as well as an RC2014 of course!  The Newbear 78 was a personal favorite of mine.  Thanks NADHACK for hosting

Your reward for getting all this way through this newsletter is a generous 17.2% discount from any official RC2014 hardware bought from Tindie until the end of July. Just use the discount code NEWSLETTER13 at the checkout
