What European RC2014 Customers Need To Know

I've been holding back on this newsletter for a few weeks now, as I wanted to provide some clarification about what's going on with Brexit, and how that will affect RC2014 shipments to the European Union.  I wish I could offer some clarification now, however things have been changing day by day for the last month.  Official advice to me has been contradictorary, and even those that should know what's going on still seem unclear.
However, the way it looks at the moment is that the UK will not leave the EU without a deal, and that the current deadline of this Friday will probably be extended.
This is good news as it looks like for the foreseeable future, RC2014 customers in the EU will not have to pay any customs charges, tax or import duty on RC2014 kits.
If that does change, I will do my best to let you know before any charges come in to effect.

RCM Leicester

For those of you lucky enough to be around Leicester this Sunday, 15th April, if you call in to the Retro Computer Museum not only is there a special DEC gathering, but also a stall full of RC2014 goodness.

If you're not around this Sunday, call in some other time. It's well worth it!

Case Showcase

Amongst many great discussions over on the RC2014Z80 Google Group there has recently been a great thread on Showcasing your RC2014 Enclosure.

Certainly worth checking out if you need some inspiration, or, better still, if you have an interesting solution you would like to share with the rest of the community
As a treat for all of you that speak German, here's Anna C Naß giving a talk about the RC2014 on an RC2014 at the RETROpulsive 13.0 computer festival

New 3rd party boards

Since the last newsletter there has been a surge of new boards "Designed for RC2014" for sale on Tindie.  These include the Z80 SIO2 (with clock) and the Z80 CPU (with clock & reset) from Dtronixs, the Z80 Bus Monitor Board from Jack, the SC102 CTC Module and the SC103 PIO Module from Stephen Cousins and the Bus Raider Graphics and Debug Kit from Rob Dobson

Dates for your diary

I have applied to exhibit RC2014 at
* Berlin Maker Faire (17-19 May)
* Liverpool MakeFest (29 June)
* OSHCamp (31 Aug- 1 Sept).
Hopefully I'll catch up with some of you then.

I know that this is the part of the newsletter that you all skip to! So, how about a 21% discount off of the ESP8266 Wifi Module? Ok, just enter the discount code ESP21OFF at the Tindie checkout. Easy!
